Have you ever fancied keeping quail ? We did and ever since our first hatch we have been hooked. Here we have a selection of colours ready for you to start or increase your own flock. These small birds do not necessarily require a large pen and they are not expensive to feed. Specific quail pellets are available but if these are hard to come by layers pellets are fine.
Coturnix quail are hardy little creatures who have no desire to roost or nest so their housing can be as simple or elaborate as you would like. They will repay you with upwards of 250 eggs a year each... and the male bird will not wake you up at four o'clock every morning unlike a cockerel!
They are happy to live in groups with one male to every three females.
